The security supervisor traveling with Secretary of State was detained and released by local police.
The State Department announced that it is reviewing the arrest of a Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) shift supervisor by local police in Brussels last week. The agent was traveling with Secretary of State Marco Rubio as part of his security detail when he reportedly became disruptive over hotel workers not opening the bar after business hours.
Hotel staff said the bodyguard began acting erratically and became physically aggressive. They called the police after the agent refused to return to his room. The agent was arrested and released after the U.S. embassy intervened.
The State Department spokesperson said in an emailed statement that the DSS is “aware of allegations of an incident involving an employee in Brussels.” The spokesperson added, “While we don’t discuss specific personnel matters, the allegations are being examined.”
A news outlet reported that the diplomatic protective detail has been under strain for years from policies of the Diplomatic Security Service leadership.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For officials in the State Department as they review the allegations surrounding the security supervisor’s arrest.
- For God’s protection around the U.S. secretary of state as he travels around the globe.
- For Secretary of State Rubio to seek God’s guidance as he heads diplomatic efforts around the world.
- For Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Carlos Matus to receive wisdom from the Lord as he oversees the Diplomatic Security Service.
